The 3-4 Defense has become more popular in recent years with both NFL and College defenses. During the 1970′s and 1980′s the 3-4 defense was the most widely used defense in the NFL. Many teams have won the Super Bowl with the 3-4 Defense as it’s base defense, most recently, the Green Bay Packers in 2011. The most common style of the 3-4 Defense involves the popular “zone blitz” utilized by many defensive coordinators, but widely attributed to Dick LeBeau.
